Portuguese Silver Salver (Boar Hallmark) - 19th Century

We present a magnificent Portuguese Silver Salver. It is a piece of undeniable elegance and great historical value. Its intricate and romantic design stands out in any collection.

Its round shape exhibits stunning craftsmanship with a pierced silver rim, profusely decorated. It features delicate floral motifs and sinuous contours in relief, hand-chased. The center of the salver, smooth and polished, contrasts harmoniously with the richness of details on the rim, revealing a profound attention to detail. It constitutes an excellent example of the fine Porto silversmithing of the period.

This piece was manufactured from 1887 onwards by the renowned Porto silversmith, José Soares das Neves.

The piece is duly hallmarked. It bears the famous "Boar" (Javali) hallmark from the Porto Assay Office, the official guarantee mark for approximately 0.833 silver purity. It also includes the respective maker's mark.
